Quality Culture at Montanuniversität Leoben

Activity: Talk or presentation Oral presentation

    Description

This presentation provided an overview of how Quality Culture is understood and practiced at Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL). Based on the principle "Quality Culture = Shared Responsibility + Continuous Improvement", the university implements a cyclical, data-informed quality assurance (QA) process that combines top-down commitment from the rectorate and leadership with bottom-up feedback from departments, faculty, and students.

MUL’s QA organizational structure involves all stakeholders — from the national education ministry and university senate to departments and students. Key quality indicators include research output, student success, teaching evaluations, and financial performance, all reviewed on a two-year cycle. Notably, around 90% of feedback results in action.

The presentation concluded with an overview of quality assurance approaches within the European University Alliance EURECA-PRO. It illustrated how partner institutions collaborate on aligning QA structures, sharing best practices, and developing joint quality standards for transnational study programmes within the alliance.
