Abstract

The Polish energy market depends upon the solid fuels which are the main cause of greenhouse gas emissions. According to the European green deal, the EU has set a target of 100 % zero emissions by 2050 for its member states. The aim of the EU is to make Europe the first continent with complete carbon neutrality. This prompted the Polish government to make its energy policy to provide a pathway for Poland to achieve the carbon neutrality by 2040. This paper analyzes the traditional energy resources, their rate of utilization and their impact on climate, along-with the recent trend of growing integration of RESs. The paper also presents the results from SARIMA model for forecasting various energy trends. The forecasting results are about the trends of resource usage for generation and electricity utilization in Poland by 2030. The model is evaluated with the help of Mean absolute percentage error while the data is divided into 70:30 ratio. 70 % of the available data is used for the training purpose and 30 % is used for the testing purpose. The precision analysis provides an outcome of 4.48 % calculated through MAPE, which is very reasonable. The predicted trends justify the seriousness of Polish government to mitigate the carbon footprints while improving the social and ecological situation of the local population. This ensures that the Poland will be able to achieve the targets of improved climatic conditions and sustainable economic growth, through the use of cleaner energy resources, for affordable electricity and providing better job opportunities for its population.
