Abstract
Several new processes for the production of scrap substitutes have reached the production phase. Since scrap prices were low, these processes have to be optimized to maintain low direct-reduced iron (DRI) and hot briquetted iron (HBI) production costs. For this reason, a new laboratory method was made to determine the reduction kinetics of iron ore fines using fluidized bed technology.
