Abstract

In recent times the demand on high strength steel tubes is increasing. With the traditional methods the production of these tubes would not longer be economic. Thats why in the present study alternative production methods and actual trends on this topic are discussed. Especially the thermomechanical production of seamless steel tubes is investigated. For that reason, together with an industrial partner, compression tests are carried out on two different steelgrades. The tests build the basic for the following metallographic examinations, which provide information about the dependencies between the thermomechanical factors and the mechanical properties of the tubes.
