Abstract

The present master thesis deals with the development of a calculation model of an absorption heat pump as well as with the creation of associated equations for the calculation of material properties with the software „Engineering Equation Solver“ (EES). The Institute of Thermal Engineering at the Graz University of Technology got provided by the project partner EAW Energieanlagenbau GmbH an absorption heat pump test rig, which originally was designed for operating with the working fluid pair water / lithium bromide (H2O / LiBr). It is planned, that in the future it will also be operated with other working fluid pairs. To get an idea of the behaviour and the experimental results, which will be obtain by the test rig, a calculation model that originally was calculating with data of the working fluid pair water / lithium bromide (H2O / LiBr) was taken from literature and adapted to carry out its calculations with the working fluid pair water / 1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium Methanesulfonate (H2O / [EMIM][MeSO3]). The calculation model consists of a main model and modules, which are used for calculating the material properties. The underlying data for the created equations was taken from literature and measurement data provided by project partners. If the working fluid pair H2O / LiBr is not used in the test rig, restrictions in operation could occur, whereby the flow of the solution from the desorber through the solution heat exchanger into the absorber plays an important role. Therefore, pressure loss calculations were carried out and their results were evaluated for the working fluid pair H2O / LiBr as well as for the working fluid pairs H2O / [EMIM][MeSO3], H2O / [BMIM][NO3] and H2O / Betain:Glycerol.
