This diploma thesis gives a description of processing examinations on samples from a Chinese magnesite deposit. The goal of those examinations was the collection of data to design a processing plant. The comminution of rocks is an energy intensive process; therefore detailed grindabilty tests, determined by the Rittinger-coefficient and the Bond-index were performed. In many flotation tests the functionality of different flotation reagents was tested. Two reagents showed improved results with regard to the reduction of the SiO2-content. A reduction of the CaO-content wasnt reached, although several depressant reagents and combinations of them were used. To estimate the sedimentation velocity tests were run on the flotation products. They were needed to design thickener or clearing ponds.
