Abstract

The fundamental goal is to find possible solutions for the automation of production processes, in which object tracking is of essential importance. Possibilities to detect and track 3D - objects, which move through a 3D – space have to be found. Further the geometry of this 3D – objects have to be determined. Mathematical algorithms were developed, with which 3D - objects in a picture can be detected and described. The software packages shall be written in a manner which permitts and supports the implementation of various applications. In the example being considered the objects being tracked are hot steel blocks which have to be steered through a production line.
