Abstract
This study focuses on the ground support design of an underground gold mine in Gədəbəy, Azerbaijan. Rock mass parameters were assessed, and the main tunnel was divided into sections, with support systems designed accordingly. The Q-system was used for empirical classification, while numerical modeling was conducted in RS2. The analysis showed that the rock bolt spacing recommended by the Q-support chart should be reduced by 20% to improve stability. The results highlight the importance of combining empirical methods with numerical
modeling to ensure a more reliable and effective support design in underground mining.
