Development of the cleaning technology of the main oil pipelines

The work is devoted to the problem of cleaning the linear part of oil pipelines from hard to remove deposits both during normal operation and during special types of work: reconstruction, conservation and liquidation. If the issue of periodic cleaning of main oil pipelines to maintain its throughput capacity is considered already resolved today, then in old pipeline systems of smaller diameter, often without special launching and receiving trap, a universal solution has still not been found. This issue is especially important when dismantling old pipelines during the reconstruction, conservation and liquidation of pipelines, including transferring oil pipeline systems for pumping light oil products. The main aim of the work is to develop a comprehensive technology and recommendations for more effective cleaning of the linear part of oil pipelines during their operation, reconstruction, conservation, liquidation or for switching to pumping light oil products, which meets the minimum material and time costs and high environmental standards. Within the framework of the work, an in-depth analysis of existing and widely used methods for cleaning pipelines was carried out. The analysis includes a patent study of the issue, a literature review of both scientific articles and regulatory and technical documents, as well as an analysis of modern and advanced world experience of both pipeline and service companies. A set of experimental and computational studies was carried out to determine the most effective parameters of the developed technology. The set of experimental studies showed that choosing the right solvent for specific types of ARPD plays a key role in cleaning operation. Experiments also showed that increasing the temperature of the solvent, as well as transferring it from static to dynamic mode, also increases the cleaning efficiency. Finally, the computational study also showed an increased cleaning efficiency with a change in the temperature of the solvent. Based on the data obtained, new technology and recommendations were proposed for improving methods of cleaning oil pipelines from asphalt-resin-paraffin deposits. Unlike existing technologies and cleaning methods, the developed technology is based on the chemical methods with the use of additional ultrasonic cavitation treatment and thermal methods.
