Abstract
In today's global, networked world, data-based working and decision-making is essential. This networking leads to an immense increase in complexity in companies and demands efficient and effective processes. In order to make the process chains controllable and manageable, meaningful key figures and corresponding performance measurement systems are required. To meet these challenges, production concepts designed according to the principles of lean management have emerged as solutions in large parts of industry. The aim of this study is to examine the use of logistical performance indicators in the context of lean logistics, using the example of an industrial company in contract manufacturing. These key figures are intended to expand an existing performance measurement system in such a way that the processes in logistics, which include the areas of procurement logistics, internal transport and distribution and transport logistics, are made measurable and comparable. This should increase the efficiency of the individual sub-areas and objectify decision-making. Subsequently, recommendations for action are to be worked out, which will enable an easy and uncomplicated evaluation of the key figures. There is to be a certain distinction here, where on the one hand a series of measures are to be worked out for the establishment of an optimal system of key figures. On the other hand, short-term recommendations for action are also to be given for the introduction of key figures that can be implemented within a shorter period of time and in a way that suits the current operational conditions. The result of the work is an overview of the theoretical basics of lean management and performance measurement systems as well as the extension of an existing performance measurement system by operative key figures for subareas of internal logistics using the example of voestalpine Turnout Technology Zeltweg GmbH. Furthermore, recommendations for the implementation of logistics performance indicators are given in the form of a two-step plan.
