Abstract

This master thesis is part of the project SANBA (Smart Anergy Quater Baden). The aim of the project is to develop a heating and cooling system for a future use of the former military camp "Martinek Kaserne", which is based on a so-called anergy or low-temperature network (<30 °C). Such special low temperature networks open up new possibilities in the area of decentralised energy supply at district level. They offer a high degree of flexibility and thus enable the integration of local renewable heat sources or waste heat as well as the connection of private and industrial customers. One of the central points of the SANBA project is the use of the industrial low-temperature waste heat from the processes of the neighbouring dairy NÖM, as well as the investigation of the integration of geothermal energy. The objective of this scientific work was to investigate the waste heat and efficiency potentials of the NÖM dairy, which could be used to supply the energy network. The most important processes and energy flows of the dairy were analysed. Exergy analyses serve to evaluate the energy quality, on the one hand in the processes and on the other hand the waste heat. The aim was it to create time-resolved waste heat profiles, which are necessary in addition to the consumption profiles, in order to carry out the technical dimensioning or economic consideration of the energy network to be set up. In addition, time-resolved PV generation profiles were generated for the site in order to demonstrate the full potential of renewable energies on site. A big part of the data base for the analysis was provided by NÖM. In order to identify and classify energy flows that had not been recorded to date, measurements had to be carried out in the dairy operation. Before the measurements could be carried out in operation, the measuring devices were tested and calibrated at the heat pump system of the Chair of Energy Network Technology at the University of Leoben. The exact procedure for commissioning and testing was documented in this paper to facilitate the future use of the measuring instruments. The SANBA project is part of the NEFI (New Energy for Industry) model region supported by the Austrian Federal Government's Climate Fund, which focuses on the further development of energy-intensive industries. Via the so-called NEFI-Lab, the results of the SANBA project are transferred to other industries and sectors and analysed so that the results can be multiplied.
