G.O.Joe: A new non-commercial software tool for the processing of LA-ICP-MS data

Abstract

The software G.O.Joe is developed to calculate trace element concentrations in solid samples measured by LA-ICP-MS analysis, offering several types of interference corrections. The software code is written in the Dart programming language using the Flutter framework. G.O.Joe operates online for immediate data evaluation and efficiently processes large datasets.
Intuitive user interfaces facilitate the data evaluation process, including easy peak- and background signal selections, import of instrument settings and reference material compositions to convert the measured raw signals into element concentrations. Furthermore, isobaric interferences and abundance sensitivity can also be corrected. The resulting (.xlsx) file provides the calculated element concentrations, associated statistical parameters and the input data along with instrument settings to ensure transparent data processing.
Key features of G.O.Joe are demonstrated by processing the analysis of tungstates (e.g., scheelite) and silicates (e.g., garnet) showing that G.O.Joe is a time-efficient, transparent and user-friendly software for LA-ICP-MS trace element analysis.
