Abstract

Aluminium alloys as used in the automotive industry have to fulfil high requirements. On one hand they should be well formable and on the other hand they should exhibit high strength with good weldability to match up with modern steels. In this thesis the artificial aging behaviour containing a pre-aging treatment under the influence of cold-strain in EN AW-6016 is investigated by atom probe tomography and transmission electron microscopy. It should be clarified, how dislocations influence the formation of Mg and Si clusters in undeformed and 5 % cold worked sheet material and how the mechanical properties are influenced.
