Abstract
Voestalpine Schienen GmbH with the headquarter in Leoben / Donawitz is a manufacturer of high-quality tracks and is the only rail manufacturer in Europe that can produce continuous rails with a length of 120 meters. Due to the increasing demands of the finishing line in terms of capacity utilization the voestalpine Schienen GmbH purchased a simulation model, which in the course of this work has been implemented in the company. This work starts with a reflection of the implementation process according to VDI directives. After the reflection of the implementation process we describe the collection of the necessary master as well as the setup of simulation experiments. The first experiments serve the verification of the master data. Only after adaptation of the master data, simulation experiments for short- and long-term capacity planning are conducted. A proposal for the visualization of short-term simulation runs is given. Further, a theoretical approach for optimizing the production of the finishing line is developed. A summary and an outlook conclude the work.
