Abstract

Resource efficient production is one of the cornerstones when it comes to preventing climate change. This work deals with the possibility of processing waste products from the printed circuit board industry in such a way, that material loops are created to reduce the primary use of production materials. In particular, the wastewater from the printed circuit board industry is used for this purpose. Due to their high copper concentration, these offer the possibility of a sensible recycling process, not only ecologically but also economically. In order to realize this, the suitability of cation exchange resins is tested in the experimental part of this work. The aim is to ensure, that these resins are optimized for use as copper absorbers as far as possible. This increases the resource efficiency of the exchange resins in operation. Finally, this work proposes additional improvements for the recycling process of PCB-wastewater, which in addition to metal recycling suggests closed loop concepts for water, acid and solid wastes from circuit board production.
