Abstract
As various publications concerning the topic of long fibre thermoplastics have proved, the amplification of long fibre thermoplastics can cause an improvement of their stiffness, toughness, qualities of impact, stability of shape in heat and resistance to abrasion.
This project is aimed at the analysis of the influence of various types of long fibre thermoplastics, whereas an emphasis is put on the influence of the length of fibres on the qualities of the building components. This research resulted in the following facts: in general, the stiffness is independent of the length of the fibres but dependent on the way of orientation of the fibres. The results of the research concerning the toughness are similar to the ones of the stiffness, but the adhesiveness between the fibre and the matrix is especially important. The most significant advantage, which is due to the big length of the fibres, is shown in the qualities of the impact as there is a high capacity of energy absorption. To reach a big length of the fibres a complete shearing stress of the mould has to be avoided. In this case the geometry of the screw as well as of the geometry of cavity and the processing parameter, which can be influential, are of importance.
