Abstract
In this thesis, ferromagnetic low-temperature-phase-MnBi was successfully processed by severe plastic deformation using high pressure torsion and subsequent annealing treatments. The influence of induced deformation and processing temperature, as well as annealing parameters on the resulting microstructure and the magnetic properties were studied. For the first time a reliable way of analyzing the microstructure via electron backscatter diffraction was accomplished by preparing the samples with plasma focused ion beam rocking polishing technique which made it possible to link the microstructure to the magnetic properties.
