Abstract
This script is concerned in particular with wear-reducing measures in the chain technology. First, it gives an insight into the technical wear with all wear mechanisms. A wide range of wear-reducing measures are presented which are not only related to chains but generally applicable. As a next step, the best-suited processes with regard to the chain are presented in detail and also suitable materials. These are selected with a value-in-use analysis with regard to feasibility, cost-effectiveness and wear optimization with respect to a chain. This script contains only a theoretical optimation. The best method is finally applied to a round steel chain of company PEWAG Austria GmbH to demonstrate also in practice, whether there will be a reduction of wear of the chain. The new Chain Material and surface treatment of the chain is compared to an already used chain of PEWAG.
