Abstract

Due to higher cost pressure and decreasing market demand construction Industry is in a difficult situation. To increase cost efficiency many construction companies evaluate their internal processes and concentrate on improvement of existing operating and planning processes. Computer-aided tools and centralised software solutions have been used for years in stationary industry. Through evaluation in construction companies these integration platforms and planning software find one's way into construction and tunnelling companies. A major part of the constructional service provision is to supply on time with the right quantity of the needed materials. Especially subsurface construction sites have specific requirements and characteristics for planning of material requirement. This thesis examines the requirements planning of proppants and construction material on tunnel construction sites, which are built with NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method) and verify if methods of material requirement planning in stationary industry can be adapted to the give problem. The goal of this thesis is the development of a computer-aided tool, which considers the planer given driving classes and changes in the geology during the driving, to calculate a forecast of the required materials. With continuous adaptation to the geology, the demand can be calculated more exactly. In addition an extrapolation of the required materials to the end of the tunnel is integrated, whereby the total material requirement can be determined. This is achieved by joining planning data, current driving data and the data of the bill of quantities in a standardised database. In this software tool needed data can be entered and edited easily in individual forms. Calculations are done automatically and needed analysis can be displayed. As a result this software tool is a first stride towards an integrated solution with no interfaces, to realize methods of construction logistics from the planning phase to the operation on the construction site.
