Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze and investigate water production problems in Nasser field by using available technology such as water oil ratio (WOR) plots to identify source of water production. The water production maybe resulted from production such as casing leaks and flow behind casing. For this problem, the usefulness of using new technologies to improve zonal isolation and repair casing leaks is investigated in order to achieve lower water production rates and increase oil recovery. The second source of water production is water coning in the reservoir from the aquifer. The SURE simulator is used and two types of single well models, namely vertical and horizontal wells are considered to investigate water coning problems. Previous work done to solve water problems is reviewed and methods used to reduce water production in the Nasser field are presented.
