Abstract

In this master-thesis the different states of conveying in a suction system and processes for the atomization of an alkaline mass in metallurgical furnaces were presented. A special concern was laid on the dilute phase conveying of the particles and on the dry spray process. By VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) a program was developed, which calculates the pressure drop of conveying the particles in the regime of the dilute transport. The program allows the calculation of the necessary parameters (pressurized air and the pressure within the two-chamber-injector-machine) to allow dilute phase conveying. In a further investigation the focus is laid on the steps from the design, development and manufacturing up to the first tests of a prototype of a twin-fluid atomizer, which is to be used as a device for wetting the conveyed granular material in the gunning machine.
