Abstract

Archeological material from Central Europe was investigated with sets of samples from eight sites from the early
Medieval Ages, covering a time range between 500 and 1200 AD. The archeointensities show lower values, at the
beginning of the period, than observed in other parts of Europe, and then an increase around 800 AD. Newstudies
on archeological sites from Austria and Germany are currently in process to verify this trend.
