Abstract
The aim of this MSc dissertation is the planning of the enlargement of the open pit mine “Zingel” located in Kehrsiten, Nidwalden. The new mining perimeter is designed to supply the processing plant 300’000 tons raw material a year for a period of 30 years. Several possibilities for mining and hauling were compared with each other by looking at technical and economical aspects. The best solution is an ore pass located in the centre of the new mining area, combined with an underground installation of the primary crusher. The excavation process starts at the top and succeeds downwards mining in slices. The blasted rock is loaded and carried by a wheel loader to the shaft. A mining concept is developed and visualized three-dimensionally. In canton Nidwalden is a great demand for rocks used in water construction as well as for dumping space for excavated materials. For this reason a concept for the sales of water construction stones and for a dump in Kehrsiten is created. In the final part of this dissertation the capital expenditure budgeting is done for the pit enlargement.
