Praxisnahe Umsetzung des ArbeitnehmerInnenschutzgesetzes in Tagbauen

In open-pit mines of Austria, the Employee Protection Act is specified in more detail by the Open-pit Mining Ordinance. Since the ordinance has come into force on January 1, 2011, the implementation of the statutory provisions has been confronted with major challenges due to the historical development of some mines. Changes to open pit mining parameters take place over a longer period of time. Access roads often cannot be relocated due to the existing geology that¿s determined by nature. To ensure that all these factors are compatible with occupational safety while the extraction of mineral raw materials in Austria is still possible, this paper develops the scientific basis for provisions that are difficult to implement, together with the suggested solutions from practical experience.
