Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the sampling and analysis of ferro-alloys such as ferro titanium, ferro-vanadium, ferro-manganese, ferro-silicon, silicon-manganese and aluminum as deoxidizing agents used in the secondary metallurgy for the steel production. These materials are sampled within the diploma thesis and are investigated for their grain size and chemical composition. Detailed studies on sampling and sample preparation (derived from a standard method) are carried out and compared. The effects of process steps on errors as a function of chemical composition and grain size are investigated with an emphasis on course grain and fine fraction. Therefore a simple sampling method should be implemented to get representative results. The aim is to develop a real concept for sampling and sample preparation based on the results of the investigation and the technical possibilities. Additionally a cost concept should be developed depending on the technical findings.
