Abstract
In today's business environment, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face increasing competitive pressure, stemming from the necessity to keep pace with large corporations in the era of digitalization. Particularly, transport management, which remains heavily reliant on paper and resource-intensive, emerges as a pivotal focal point for enhancing the competitive-ness of SMEs. This thesis presents insights from the implementation of a new IT system in an Austrian transportation company, a project observed by the author over a span of two years. Using an illustrative process, the maturity level pre- and post-digitization is assessed, and improvements in transport management are evaluated. The findings reveal significant efficiency potentials within transport management, albeit the implementation of new systems entails numerous challenges and associated costs.
