The first part of this thesis deals with the design, construction, substantial variations and basis of calculation of the various components in accordance with the applicable technical regulations. In the second part, the safety of shaft hoisting ropes has been discussed. The focus here is on operational aspects such as damage, monitoring, auditing and discard criteria of the hoist ropes. The consideration of various safety standards is also presented in the form of a comparison.
