Abstract
The aim of this thesis is the development of a feasibility study of the cement plants Gmunden and Rohrdorf, in case both of them are combined with a biogas plant. Moreover, the range of possible steps of biogas production and utilization processes is evaluated, concerning the potential of an economic combination with a cement plant. At the beginning of this thesis, a comprehensive study of contemporary literature on the state of the art in the cement industry as well as in biogas utilization was accomplished. A substratum study for the cement plants Rohrdorf and Gmunden forms the basis for a rough dimensioning of the biogas plant and the concept preconsiderations of the plant combination. Later, sewage- and biosludge drying tests were carried out with a membrane filter press, in order to gain experience in the field of sludge drying and to be able to draw conclusions concerning digestate drying, utilising excess heat sources from cement works.
