Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to develop an incentive system for transport service providers from the viewpoint of MAGNA Powertrain AG & Co KG in consideration of the conducted assessment. The incentive system is seen as an instrument to influence the transport service provider’s performance. A list of criteria with the most important characteristics of the transport service will be developed for the assessment system. It will be analyzed which and how many criteria are necessary for an appropriate assessment and how the single performance characteristics should be taken into account. The inquiry of criteria should be manageable in the easiest and quickest way for the automotive supplier. Furthermore it is very important to share the results of the assessment with the transport service providers. This assessment is to be used as a quality instrument for the awarding of freight contracts by MAGNA Powertrain AG & Co KG. For the development of the incentive system empirical data from studies within other domains, such as incentive systems in human resource management or controlling, is used. It will be analyzed which efficient monetary or non-monetary incentive systems exist. Within this context, the basic structure of a principal-agent relationship will be derived from theory. Possible conflicts of interest and the following strategic interactions of the parties are taken into consideration. Based on well described concepts this thesis tries to develop a useful incentive system for MAGNA Powertrain AG & Co KG.
