Abstract

The influence of non metallic inclusions (NMI) on the dynamic mechanical prperties of steel were investigated. For different steel grades the NMIs were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and related to fatigue properties determined four point rotating bending and resonance frequency (tensile/compression) testing. The material response was evaluated for customer defined heat treatments, inclusion content, sizes and locations.
