Abstract

The purpose of the master thesis is to find optimized mixtures for the briquetting pro-cess for the secondary copper smelter and refinery. The cement-bonded briquettes are prepared for the shaft furnace by a stamp press. The main requirement on the briquettes for satisfying usability in the shaft furnace is stability. Small-scale and large-scale samples were tested for uniaxial compressive strength. Improved data evaluation using Design and Analysis of Experiments (DoE) allows for identifying harmful materials for briquetting and a recommendation for the cement type and for promising settings of the test rig. A scale-up study provides a connection between the small-scale samples and the large-scale samples.
