Abstract

The implementation of the new logistics concept (“Neue Logistikkonzept, phase 2”) requires a restructuring of the area freight forwarding contract of the Volkswagen group. This reorganization results in new planning challenges for transport logistics. The core issue of this paper is the analysis of the requirements on multifunctional consolidation points in the external transport logistics. Thevariety of organizational units in the planning process (group, brands and plants) can lead to disagreements in the respective goals and duties. These differences of opinions are discussed on the basis of a consolidation point near to the Audi plant in Neckarsulm. This consideration includes a level concept for an implementation of the consolidation point.
